Enclosed Boat and RV Storage on Dixie Hwy in Clarkston
Clarkston Self Storage rents large drive up bays built for the things that will not fit in a garage: boats on trailers, campers, travel trailers, utility trailers, and smaller RVs. Every bay is fully enclosed with its own roll up door, so your boat or camper sits out of the snow, ice, sun, and sight lines all winter. Pull up, back in, lock it, and come back when the lakes thaw.
We are at 9457 Dixie Hwy, minutes from Deer Lake, Parke Lake, the Waterford chain of lakes, and the I-75 exit at Sashabaw Rd, so you are not hauling across the county to put the boat away.
Bay Sizes for Boats, Campers, and Trailers
Four enclosed drive up sizes fit most trailered boats, campers, and work trailers. Rates move with availability, so the rental widget above always shows live pricing and what is open today.
| Bay Size | Typically Fits |
|---|---|
| 10x25 drive up | Fishing boats and runabouts to about 20 ft on the trailer, pop up campers, utility and landscaping trailers, jet skis on a double trailer |
| 10x30 drive up | Bowriders and pontoons to about 24 ft on the trailer, travel trailers to about 26 ft, enclosed cargo trailers |
| 12x25 drive up | Wider boats and campers that need swing room on both sides, dual axle trailers |
| 12x30 drive up | Larger pontoons and deck boats on the trailer, longer travel trailers, Class B and smaller Class C RVs |
Length is the number that matters. Measure from the trailer tongue to the end of the outboard or swim platform, then add two feet for walk around room. Not sure about clearance or door dimensions for a taller rig? Call (248) 859-8533 before you book and we will confirm the bay fits before you tow it over.
Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels are usually too long for an enclosed bay. If that is what you own, call and we will tell you straight whether we can fit it.
Why Store a Boat or Camper Indoors in Michigan
Oakland County winters are hard on anything left outside. Snow load on a boat cover, ice in the bilge, freeze and thaw on seals, UV fading on upholstery, and mice looking for a warm place to nest are the usual reasons spring commissioning costs more than it should. A fully enclosed bay takes all of that off the table, and it keeps the boat out of the driveway where HOA rules and neighbors have opinions.
Compared with an open lot, an enclosed drive up bay also gives you a locked door, a roof, and a dry space to work on the boat or camper before the season starts.
What Comes With Every Bay
- Fully enclosed drive up bay with a roll up door and your own lock
- 24 hour keypad gate access, so you can pull the boat out at 6 AM on a Saturday
- Fenced, well lit lot with 24/7 video surveillance
- Wide paved drive lanes with room to back in a trailer
- Month to month lease with no long term contract
- Move in specials on select units when you rent online
Winterizing Before You Store
A little prep in the fall saves a lot in the spring. For boats: fog the engine, stabilize the fuel, drain the water systems, pull the battery, and open the drain plug. For campers and trailers: drain and blow out the water lines, add RV antifreeze, remove food, prop the fridge door, and cover the tires. Our winter storage guide for Clarkston walks through the full checklist.
Boat and RV Storage Questions
Do you offer outdoor parking for boats or RVs?
No. Every boat, camper, and trailer space at Clarkston Self Storage is a fully enclosed drive up bay. If you want your rig under a roof and behind a locked door, this is it.
Can I get to my boat any time?
Yes. The gate is open 24 hours a day with your personal keypad code. Office hours are 7 AM to 10 PM daily if you need a person.
How long is the lease?
Month to month. Store for the winter and move out in April, or keep the bay year round so you always have a home for the boat. Rent online to see move in specials on select units.
Can I work on my boat in the bay?
Light prep like charging batteries, waxing, and swapping covers is fine. Fueling, fluid changes, and anything with open flame or engine running is not.
What about my summer gear?
Kayaks, paddleboards, patio furniture, and lake toys fit in a 10x20 drive up unit on site. Live rates are in the rental widget on this page. See the Clarkston storage pricing guide.
